Devoted husband, father of five, and proud grandfather.
Jon faced significant challenges early in life. Born with turned-in feet, he underwent procedures where his feet were broken every two weeks for the first two years of his life. Giving thanks to the Shriners Childrens Hospital for allowing him to have the best medical care. Doctors said he wouldn't walk, yet he persevered. Additionally, he struggled with a speech impediment, including a lisp and stutter, which held him back from speaking with confidence until he was around sixteen. These early struggles instilled in Jon a resilient spirit and an empathic heart for helping others overcome obstacles.
Known as the "roof guru" and "the golden doodle of roofing" (a term lovingly coined by Mike Goldenstein), Jon is recognized as one of the kindest and nicest people in the roofing industry. His deep commitment to servant leadership and genuine care for his clients and colleagues have earned him this endearing title.
After high school, Jon transitioned into the roofing and construction industry, quickly excelling in sales and leadership roles. From 2001 to 2007, he built and scaled JB Builders, a spec home construction company, before successfully selling it in 2007.
Between 2007 and 2012, Jon worked as a sales leader and business development strategist for two roofing companies, helping them grow their annual revenue from $2M to $7M and $3M to $10M, respectively.
In 2012, Jon and his wife, Brandy, launched Roof-Top Restorations, a roof and exterior cleaning company. They scaled it to $1.2M in annual revenue before selling it in 2014. From 2014 to 2019, Jon played a key role as COO/Business Development in expanding Shield Roofing from $4M to over $20M in under five years.
In 2019, Jon bought into MHI Roofing with his business partner, Ty Meredith. By the time they sold the company to Vertex Service Partners in January 2024, MHI was generating $17 million in annual revenue. Following the acquisition, Jon served as the COO of the Florida Region for 15 months.
Today, Jon is the CEO of Day 41 Thrive, a consulting firm dedicated to helping home service companies scale and succeed. He also owns, with his business partner Ty, Ugly Roof, a roof rejuvenation company, and System Thrive, a firm focused on growing and supporting Ugly Roof's dealer network.
Jon recently founded Sure Home Pros, a tech-driven platform set to transform how homeowners find and book services like pressure washing, soft washing, roof washing, and roof rejuvenation. Combining smart technology with top-tier home service providers, it streamlines the process for a seamless customer experience.
Driven by a desire to enrich others' lives, Jon believes in helping people see their potential through coaching and servant leadership. He approaches life with the philosophy that there are no problems, only unsolved opportunities. Jon's faith and his belief that joy is a decision—rooted in Matthew 6:34—help him live in the moment and find true joy.
Jon also lives by the guiding principle: "Is it True? Is it Kind? Is it Helpful?" ensuring his words and actions enrich others' lives by freely sharing knowledge and encouragement to keep opportunities flowing for those around him.
Jon is deeply in love with his wife, Brandy, and together they have five children and five grandchildren. At home, he cherishes his golden doodles: Tank, who had a huge heart and passed away from a heart condition; Trixie, the sweet, shy, and cuddly medium-sized doodle; and Teddy, the energetic and playful micro doodle.
Jon perceives life as one big storm where we are either in a storm, coming out of one, or heading into another. Like buffalo who run straight into storms rather than away from them, Jon believes that facing challenges head-on helps us emerge stronger and better prepared for what's next.
